Each month, we scour the web for freelancers who make money online. There is no “one right way” to earn an income online — and the freelancers and solopreneurs featured in this income report roundup are living proof of that.
I went digging through the trenches of the internet again this month and came across a few brand new bloggers (brand new to me anyway). And I pulled out some pieces of wisdom too.
Here they are:
1. “If you have the right mindset it is possible to substantially increase your income – even without a college degree.”
Alexa of Single Moms Income earned $10,168 in May. And half of that comes from affiliate income (from sources such as Elite Blog Academy). You will love Alexa’s journey from a divorced single mother working two jobs to make ends meet in 2012 to making $10k in one month working from home.
What I love about Alexa’s story is that she still does freelance writing and VA work even after her income spiked. In fact, she made $1,500 from freelancing for others this month.
(Pssst! Gina also has three VA clients and regularly takes freelance writing gigs. Check out her income report here.)
2. “Clarity is crucial.”
Lovely Lauren of LBee and The Money Tree made $6,431 in May 2016. More than a third of that came from sponsored posts on Lauren’s personal finance website. Lauren also made $1,908 in affiliate income.
And this is just one year after she started working for herself full-time. She even got a speaking gig in May. How fun is that?
3. “Passive income isn’t always fast income.”
Hilary of Pulling Curls pulled in a grand total of $9,800 from affiliate income, sponsored posts and her own products.
Hilary talks honestly about the challenges of making an online income through your products and why not every launch you have is going to be a six-figure launch.
Let’s read that piece of wisdom from her blog again, shall we? “Passive income isn’t always fast income.”
4. “I feel like I’m starting to sort out this whole work-life balance thing.”
Nicky of Kitchen Sanctuary made $2,112 blogging about delicious recipes in April. The majority of her income came from freelance writing, developing recipes and sponsorship from brands.
Fair warning: don’t visit this blog if you’re hungry. Your screen will be filled with mouthwatering photography of scrumptious food.

5. “It is completely possible to make a good living working as a blogger. It’s not easy work, but it’s rewarding and can be done.”
Tammy of Organize Yourself Skinny made $9,260 in one single month from affiliate income and from her ebook.
In October 2010, Tammy decided she was sick of being overweight, tired and unhappy. She got serious about living a healthier lifestyle, committed herself to healthy changes and managed to lose 40 lbs in the process.
And now she has built this into a new career for herself. Talk about perseverance!
