My last day at my current day job is December 23, 2014!

I’ve been hustling to build my freelance writing, editing and virtual assistance business on the side since April. June is when I got my first paying client and July is when I turned a profit and earned my first paycheck.

A lot can be done in a little time if you’re motivated, focused and intent on changing your circumstances. I continue to be encouraged that freelancing for the web is the career choice for me. Here are my top four reasons for believing so.

1. I’m Springing Out of Bed at 4:45am Excited to Work

See I’m the breadwinner of our family, a mother of two toddlers and wife to a pretty cool guy that’s been working 24/7 on a side project, so I don’t have a lot of “extra time.” I’m most creative in the morning and am pretty burnt out mentally after I tuck the kiddos in bed for the night.

So, I had to figure out a time when I could consistently work on my business. A time when I wasn’t constantly interrupted by my mostly sweet toddlers and when my brain was ready to work.

This time for me just happens to be early morning, 4:45am to be exact! This gives me about an hour and a half, before I need to hop in the shower, get ready for work and on the road. It works for now and I’ve been able to be consistent about it for some time.

2. I’m Making Money

If I weren’t making any money, I would probably be a bit discouraged at this point. I’ve been fortunate to “meet” the right people and start landing gigs which pay.

I’ve published two income reports so far; one for September and one for October. I know it won’t always be the case, but so far each month just keeps getting better and better. It’d be nice to continue this theme for the last two months of the year and get as close as possible to replacing my current salary before it goes away.

3. It Just Feels Right

I don’t know how to explain it, except that I just have such a level of peace about moving forward into my new career. Of course I’m a little nervous, it’s a big leap of faith and I most certainty could end up a big fat failure.

I just don’t think that’s going to be the case. Even if it is, I’m willing to take the risk, make the jump and see what happens. I don’t want to look back in twenty years and wonder what could have been. By trying I’ll know – either way!

4. If God Is with Me, Who Can Be Against Me?

I’m not too shy to say it, I’m a Believer. Honestly, I don’t think any of “my” success would have been possible without God. More than anything, I need to give credit where credit is due, to God.

That peace I mentioned above? It comes from Him. In the tough times (you know there will be more tough times), I’ll lean on Him and His understanding, not my own.

 In Conclusion

In less than two months, freelancing will be my new full-time thing. I’m excited, working hard, I’m making money and it just feels right.

I’ve got powers higher than my own at work in my life and I’m peaceful about the decision to quit my job and move forward in my career. Why not me? Why not now?
